Hanging By Thread

If someone, your friend, colleague or classmate told u that he/she was hanging by a thread, what is the first thing that will cross your mind? Apparently, something has gone wrong!! Maybe some of us here don’t really understand the phrase “hanging by thread”. Well, it’s not hard to understand because it’s pretty straightforward and the phrase actually speaks for itself. The real meaning of this phrase is someone is in a very tough and uncertain situation, and is likely to fall to the bottom of the cliff if he is not careful because he’s hanging by thread, not rope, nor any other sort of thing that may keep him from falling. We all know that a thread can easily be broken into two simply by pulling it with our hands, let alone sustaining a person at high altitude from falling.

Well, this phrase was used by one of my friends who are also a trainee in AA during one of our conversations. Honestly, I couldn’t help myself laughing the moment I heard him saying this because got some sense of humours there. He was actually using that phrase to reflect his current condition, which is pretty much same as me, very uncertain and is likely to fail our test because the training is just too tough and we all are preparing for the worst case scenario already. How pathetic!!

Maybe you’d be thinking we’re just too pessimistic and negative, but to tell you the truth, you just can’t be positive if you’re in our shoes and many the times we’re on the verge of giving up. Yeah, some people do talk about passion, enthusiasm, commitment or whatsoever… Screw those things… I don’t need them at this moment. Who cares about passion when you’re in this kind of situation? They’re dead, don’t tell me about how passionate you were in the past this and that, if you can see through your current difficulty, then you’re allowed to talk about them, else, just eat and sleep with your books everyday and be prepared to be bombarded by your instructor the next day.

So guys, this is just part of the stories about the thing I have been thru recently. Many sacrifices have to be made, a lot of hard work has to be put, a lot of time and energy has to put as well. In fact, I never felt satisfied with my training and I always felt that something is missing or lacking. Imagine I need to live this kind of live throughout my flying career; it’s just too much to bear. Flying is stressful my friend, don’t think its fun. But I have chosen to pursue my dream in the first place, so I shouldn’t complain anything at all, else, why bother to be a pilot if you’re not interested? It’s time to do some reflections in this area.

Who looks better??

I guess the answer is obvious. In fact, I shouldn't even bother to ask such question, because the guy in the first pic by the name of Nicholas, who is none other than my brother, is so dashingly good looking. I kalah liao la.... As the saying goes, "强中自有强中手,一山還有一山高".
He just celebrated his 21-year-old birthday yesterday. A young guy like him who also dreams big like his elder brother, ME, is a pilot-to-be as well. I wish him happy birthday here and all the best in his future career. Nicho, I'll always support u, n I believe u can do better than me..... I'm sorry for I didn't show a vy good example for u, please forgive me n I hope that u'll learn somethg fr my past mistake.....
If I could turn back the time, I swore I would do the right thg n everythg would have been better today....I regretted for my deed, I really do!! And I truly believe that u hav a bright n big future ahead of u......Gambateh n don't giv up!!!

Collective of Good Food

Everyone knows Jamie loves to eat, and a couple of months ago someone even called him "KingDavid", ie, "da wei wang" in mandarin, which means nothing but a person who have HUGE APPETITE. As much as people give different weird and funny nicknames or opinions for his extraordinarily huge appetite, he never got upset and as a matter of fact, he couldn't care ANY LESS how people look at him, because he has the confidence that he will never gain even an extra pound no matter how much he eat, controllably or uncontrollably.

The trick?? When you find yourself eating too much in a single meal, then reduce the amount of food intake in your next meal or simply skip that meal. There's no need to eat three meals a day daily. It works for me this way. But if u're those "CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT FOOD" kind of person, then don't forget to exercise daily. A jog down to the park or cycling or swimming will do, at least thrice or four times a week, if not daily. If u're those who love to eat and yet lazy to do any exercise, then you're DOOMED. I'm telling you that if you belong to this category, u're really doomed.

You might not agree with me by arguing, "well, my friend is damn skinny and no matter how much he/she eat, he/she just won't put on weight". My friend, those are UNHEALTHY people, physically, either malnutrition or got hidden sickness in their body. I have few friends who are in this similar situation, it took me months to understand why they never put on weight. Guess what? In the end, I found out that they are not a real big eater as what they claimed they are. They eat two or one meal a day, and one of their meals is slightly bigger than normal meal, that's all, and so happened that u're with him/her that time n u saw it. It's EASY not to gain weight if u belong to this group. A normal healthy person WILL grow. I just don't believe that a NORMAL person will not grow.

If I told you I was once 85kg, would u believe me? Hard to believe isn't it? But it's no big deal. if u want to lose weight, u gotta sacrifice certain things. You want to stay healthy n looking slim n attractive, u gotta earn for it. Every good thing comes with a price, n yes, u need to pay the price to look good n slim. The easiest n most effective way to lose weight is to exercise. If u're lazy, then fast and starve urself if u can bear it n manage to resist the temptation of food. This method works for me. But if it doesn't work for u, then don't be lazy, again, lazy people are always doomed, not only in dieting but also in many other areas.

So after few months of fighting in the battle field in this seemingly endless war in Jamie's training, he decided to escape in several different occasions and the best thing to do during each of his escape WAS TO EAT, as much as he could, doesn't matter the price of food. To help to understand Jamie a little bit more, first u need to know besides eating good food, he can spare no expense in buying clothes and things he likes. In fact, he never met a price tag which he doesn't like, be it as little as few pennies or as exaggerate as astronomical amount. He would get it at all cost, as long as he likes it. As a result, he's vy careless in spending money.

But in recent year, his spending on clothes n branded stuff has seen significant improvement after experiencing a series of money shortage situations. And mind you, he could be vy stingy on food as well at times especially after he has bought an expensive stuff. But this is not the case recently coz he was over-stressed n d only joy he could get was by eating food he wanted to eat, ranging from reasonable price to bombastic price, hahaha, bit exaggerated here but sometimes Japanese food does cost a bomb. So the following pics show a quite a number of different food he had eaten recently. Have fun reading and browsing thru those pics. And Oh, went IKEA to have dinner instead of furniture shopping that day...........................hehehehe..........

Training Went Pear-shaped

Sigh............................................................................................................................................

I thought everything was on the right track and it wasn't until last thursday that I realised things were getting out of hand and were kinda BEYOND REPAIR. I dunno who is to blame, whether me or my partner, bcos good partnership, hard work and team work do make a differene to the end result. Apparently, we failed to co-operate, someone was lagging behind and one cannot go on without the other one ready.

I couldn't believe that it was spoiled just like that and it wasn't even half way through the training yet. The juicy and tricky part are yet to come and the initial part had been screwed up big time already. It's all thanks to my slow and slack partner and the result was DISASTROUS.

My instructor had tried every possible way to work thing out including thorough briefing, revision, teaching, reviewing, and extra lesson, BUT TO NO AVAIL. My partner was too slow to catch up. My last training on thursday was awful, extremely awful, somethg beyond what your mind could ever imagined. Me and my partner experienced the greatest yelling and scolding ever, until the next door trainees were shocked!
The outcome? I was told to proceed with NEW partner, goodness knows who and when will be my next training date as more trainees are joining and on top of that, short of training slot and instructor. My original schedule was completely disrupted and needless to say it will take a while before they manage to find me a new partner, slot and instructor to continue the training.
I just don't understand why all these things must happen. I'm sicked and tired of it edi, I really had enough with it la, just give me a break la God, would u??? Sigh.......... Tell me, oh Lord, tell me how can I carry on like this?? I know I shouldn't be rude to you God, but this is just too much to bear! The only thing I can do now is waiting, yes, again. No choice. I believe that God you know my situation better than I do, and as I keep my faith in you, do not let me down oh Lord, send your deliverance to me in due time I pray. No hardship is too hard for God, right??

Too Much On My Plate

Yeah, damn straight, I hate training, and those annoying and seemingly endless trainings (new phase) have just begun this week…Oh man, damn sien lo I tell you!! I was so reluctant to kiss goodbye to my sweet little ten-day holidays which I had prior to the commencement of this nightmarish training.

Just take a look at the nice duffel bag shown above, isn’t it looks nice outwardly? But it’s hell inside. Can you see the different folders pile up on the floor? Interestingly, it TAKES A BAG to contain them. Amazing isn’t it? It’s even more amazing when you are actually told to read those folders. I still remember I actually WENT BANANA on Sunday night.

So I met my instructor on Monday, a mat saleh guy by the name of Bruce. I thought he’s English and later I found out that he’s an American. It’s been a quite a while that I haven’t been trained by mat saleh ever since my flying school days few years back. I still remember I was criticized about my bad English those days. I thought we gonna have language barrier. But thank God I can understand most of his instructions during the training, I guess I’m just used to their accent already, though at times it takes me a while to figure out what he’s saying. For three days consecutively, I have been listening to each and every of his instructions carefully, from pre-training briefing, actual training to post-training briefing. And he really can talk a lot and at one point I felt like I was having TOO MUCH ON MY PLATE.

Overall, he’s quite happy with our performance (me and my partner), and we really had a good time of learning together and he shared lotsa his experiences and stories with us which has important lesson behind. Just today alone, he mentioned this statement twice, TIME FLIES WHEN WE’RE HAVING FUN”. I must admit that I am truly blessed to have him as my instructor. Sadly, alas, he won’t take us all the way till the end of training and from next week onwards a new instructor will take over.

Well, this is just the beginning. The journey is getting tougher and steeper ahead for sure. But then as the saying goes “when the going gets tough, the tough gets going”. In short, when things get harder, I gotta start working even harder to make it through. For the sake of my future, for the sake of my bread and butter (money is important to me at d moment), I need to forge ahead with big strides. Yeah, I know it’s too much on my plate at d moment, and I’m really trying hard to cope with them. But then again, as my instructor said earlier, IT’S SO MUCH WORTH IT TO WORK HARD NOW FOR YOUR FUTURE”. So point taken and I hope to SOAR TOWARDS THE SKY SOON.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, WELCOME ON BOARD AA FLIGHT. PLEASE FASTEN YOUR SEATBELT, I’M GONNA TAKE YOU INTO ANOTHER LEVEL OF FLYING EXPERIENCE WITH GREAT EXCITEMENT AND LUXURY SERVICE WHICH YOU’VE NEVER HAD EXPERIENCED BEFORE.

An Awe-Inspiring Lesson! Don't Judge Anyone!

Believe it or not. Susan Boyle wowed the judges and the audience with her extraordinary and astounding voice. She doesn't look pretty at all, and not to mention her age and learning disability. The moment she stood at the stage, when she was asked about her dream, people laughed at her because those dreams sounded stupid considering her external appearance and age. So the judges, especially Simon Cowell, without taking much interest in her simply let her to perform the performance she was about to give.
So that's the moment when the biggest amazement ever was about to take everyone from forth to back and side to side. With great confidence emitting constantly from her entire being, she sang a song which title is "I dreamed a dream" and as she sang the first note, people were just amazed at her angelic voice including myself. I was stunned by her performance by watching Youtube, and you can imagine those audience who attended her show that remarkable night, I bet they all must have had a remarkable memory about her! After finished singing her song, standing ovation was given and of course deafening cheers.
If you ask me, I don't think I know how to appreciate people's singing skill, but even as unprofessional as I am in this area, I know that that was a superb performance ever presented and her voice doesn't take a professional to tell how good it is.
Ironically, I just read about her news in paper last night and the moment I saw this woman I was like "what makes you deserve to be famous"? And I even thought of maybe UK has got no better looking and talented people so that's why she was chosen. And as chance would have it, I received an email talking about how God had used this woman to prove many wrong, because all too often, we human being tend to JUDGE THE BOOK BY ITS COVER, aren't we??? This is truly an occurence worth pondering.

Ever wondered why I would spend time to write this topic? The reason is simple, because there are many great lessons behind this lovely performance which performed by this unlovely woman! In the end of the day, her look didn't take into consideration anymore, isn't it unbelievable? What matters in the end is her voice, yes, it's the voice that COUNTS!! Isn't it ironic, since none of the judges and audience had had any expectation on her and yet she dropped everyone's jaws in the end?
The lesson I learnt today is do not judge the book by its cover! I started to reflect on the occasion which I had underestimated anyone in my life, intentionally or unintentionally. Some people are always outstanding in everything they do because they are highly educated and also their well-to-do background. Some people are always loser, without much education or even ILLITERATE.
At first glance, winners are always winners, losers are always losers. But today, not only we heard about the story of Susan, but there are also a lot of good examples among our community that those who hide themselves and who has always been regarded as loser, has taken many of us by surprise and the result and achievement in their life have broadly surpassed those so called winner. They are just slow and probably need some time to catch up, but that doesn't rule out the possibility of success.
Ever heard of "DARK HORSE"? So don't make conclusion of a person's success or failure by looking at thier life, because YOU'LL NEVER KNOW what would happen in future. And this is truly a good lesson for those who LOVES TO UNDERESTIMATE people's ability. I hope that you and I have learnt something today.
